Whole Body Vibration and Posture Correction Demonstration

Chiropractor in Vaughan Explains Benefits of Whole Body Vibration with Posture Corrective Exercises

subscribe button 2

Vaughan, ON―I want to show you this demonstration with my vibration plate. It’s the CT Vibro Platform from Circular Traction.

The purpose for the vibration plate is to produce a whole-body vibration, from toe to head from foot to head. Now the purpose for using it in my office, I do structural corrective care as a chiropractor. So what it does is it produces this whole body vibration effect and massive proprioception stimulation to the nervous system and brain.

What that means is that it’s producing a lot of mechanical sensory information to the brain because of these small vibrations that are going through your body. And when I put people on this, I’ll demonstrate in a moment, and I give them postural corrective exercises and while they’re on the plate vibrating, they’re brain is picking up a whole bunch of information quickly. And now it wants to try to maintain the body in a new position.

So basically it’s retraining posture very, very quickly, with a lot of information to the nervous system and back to the postural muscles.

So let me show you, this plate over here and I got to turn it on so you see what it looks like. So I flip the camera around. So here’s the platform of vibration plates. Before I show you how it works, this is very important and this list of contraindications is bigger than this, but it’s not for anyone that’s pregnant, has acute thrombosis, heart conditions, fresh wounds, artificial joints, body parts, spinal pathologies, diabetes, epilepsy, acute migraines, acute inflammatory conditions, pacemakers, tumors and there’s a whole other list of contraindications that I have as well. So this is the exclusion criteria. Not everyone goes on there.

When someone can go on, this is how it works. So there’s a switch here with different settings and as I turned it on it starts to vibrate. Let me show you now I will put a block on so you have a reference point.

The plate has different settings. This is the frequency in hertz, so anywhere up until the 20 hertz, setting 3, on this machine is good for muscular ligaments and joint relaxation that is the relaxation settings. Over here, settings four to six. This is the range where it starts to give you a whole-body vibration that’s been shown in research to have a maximum effect on health. So a 27 to 40 hertz is great for proprioceptive neuromuscular re-education, which is what I was telling you about earlier, postural correction. And then higher settings, not recommended for for everyone. This is good for soft tissue absorption of a force, very high setting. We’re not going to go into this setting here. So I’m going to set it to a 33.

Now I’m going to go on this and you get to see what I’m talking about. I’m going to stand on it. Right now I am standing on the vibration plate. My whole body is vibrating. You might not see it there. So what I do is I place this block behind my back over here, stop myself, put my head back and start working on my posture. Lots of information is going to the brain to reeducate that postural position. Relax and that can be that 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 times. It feels really, really relaxing as well. Hope you found that useful and I’ll catch you on the next video.

Correcting Structure to Improve Function: A Corrective Chiropractic Care Method

Saturday, August 25th, 2018

Vaughan, ON – Corrective Care Chiropractor in Vaughan Explains the Importance of Assessing Spine Structural Alignment and Posture to Address Function

When a new patient first comes into my office for a check up, I assessed them for structure and function.

Structure:
  1. Spine: The normal alignment of the spine is straight from the front and it has 3 normal curves from the sided
  2. Posture: Normal posture from the front is when the mid forehead, nose, chest bone (sternum), and pubic bone is all centered. From the side, the ear, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles all line up.

Function:

The function of the spine is to protect the nervous system (spinal cord). The spinal cord connects the brain to the rest of your body via spinal nerves. So the function of spine to protect the spinal cord is super important. Why? Because your nervous system controls all body functions, all healing, and recreation and repair of all cells.

So our aim with chiropractic is to discover the structural problems in your spine, called Vertebral Subluxations, which interferes with the function of your body and the expression of optimal health.

When we correct the subluxations, which specific scientific chiropractic adjustments, we are removing the nerve interference causes by subluxations. This allows your body to health and function again normally, the way it is innately designed to. And this leads to better health expression.

Our goal at BTHCC is to lead you to better health the chiropractic way.

To your health,

“Sitting Is Dangerous To Your Health.” Is it? A Study Review By Dr. Walter Salubro

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

Dr. Walter Salubro Of Back To Health Chiropractic Centre Reviews New Study Showing That Sitting Is Detrimental To Your Health. Is sitting “the new smoking”?

Maple, ON – In my seminars, I always tell my patients that the human body is designed to be moving and be active, not sedentary. Unfortunately, technology is advancing faster today then the evolutionary process.

Photo courtesy of Ambro at freedigitalphotos.net

Think about this for a moment. Early human ancestors were hunters and gathers. They were up on their feet all day, running, walking, bending, crouching and moving. They were not sitting in front of a TV, a computer monitor, in their car or at a desk. They were active and using their bodies the way it was designed to be used … for motion.

Motion is health. And new research is showing this. Sitting is detrimental to you health. And too much sitting is flat out dangerous to your health, your longevity and your quality of life, no matter how much physical activity you participate with. In fact, sitting has been dubbed “the new smoking”. (more…)

The 5 Most Destructive Postures From Using Personal Electronic Devices Such As Smart Phones, Laptops, Tablets And Video Games

Saturday, September 13th, 2014

Dr. Walter Salubro, Chiropractor In Maple (Vaughan) Gives A Chiropractic Perspective On Overuse Of Electronic Media Devices And Posture Problems

It’s a modern, fast-paced age of technology and social media and the overuse of using handheld devices has skyrocketed. It seems that people of all ages, from infants to seniors are now using portable media players and handheld electronic devices.

If you find yourself in any of these positions when using your personal electronic device, you are putting undue strain, stress and pressure on the muscles, discs and nerves of your spinal column.

It may lead to a kink in your neck or tightness in your shoulders today, but in 10 to 20 years, it can lead to degenerative arthritic changes, chronic spinal misalignments and decades of stress on your nervous system (the master control system of your body).

Now is the time to change your habits when using these devices. And now is the time to teach your children better postural habits when using such devices.

Be smart. Think about your future health and well-being today. We all use these devices on a daily basis as they have the infiltrated our modern social living. Start today to be mindful of your body positions and posture when using handheld electronic devices. Better choices today for better living tomorrow.

Posture Medic Brace Posture Perfector Posture CorrectionThe Posture Medic brace is a nice, effective and easy-to-use posture correcting brace that prevents slouching.

How do you know if you have bad posture? Here are some things to look for:

  3. Is one shoulder lower then the other?
  4. Is your upper back rounded?
  5. Do you have a hump at the top of your back?
  6. Does your pelvis (hips) shift forward?

Bad posture can cause shifts on your spinal bones, pressure on your nerves and discs and tension on your muscles.

Often times, bad posture leads to:

  1. Neck pains
  2. Back pains
  3. Headaches
  4. Fatigue
  5. Lack of energy

What Parents Need To Know About Their Child’s Posture

By: Dr. Walter Salubro
Teen BackpackSit up straight.” “Don’t slouch.” These may have been the words of your mom or dad as you were growing up.

Somehow parents innately know that poor posture is not normal and that poor posture is a problem.  But why are parents correct to be so concerned about their child’s posture?

Before discussing why poor posture is a problem, let’s look at what normal standing posture should be …

Normal Posture

Looking at the body from the front view, these body parts should line up in a normal standing position: mid forehead (midpoint between eyes) lines up midpoint of the upper lip, the midpoint of the chin, the midpoint of the sternum (chest bone) and the midpoint of pelvis).

Looking at the body from the side view, these body parts should line up: the ear is in line with the mid shoulder, the mid hip and the ankle.

What Causes Poor Posture In Children?

Here are some of the most common reasons for the development of poor posture in children:

  • Heavy backpacks
  • Sitting / doing homework
  • Using laptops / computers
  • Video games
  • Watching TV
  • Using handheld devices (mp3 players, cell phones, tablets, gaming devices).
  • Poor sleeping habits (eg. using big fluffy pillows, stomach sleeping position).
  • Prolonged standing positions
  • Carrying handbags / backpack on one shoulder
  • Injuries / accidents

Why Is Poor Posture A Problem?

Poor posture is a problem because can impact the spine and put strain on muscles, bones, discs and nerves.  An optimal spine free of strain and stress is essential to optimal health. Why? Because the spine is responsible for protecting the spinal cord.

The spinal cord is the connection between your brain and the rest of your body parts and organ systems. A shift in posture can cause a shift in the spine, known as a spinal misalignment. A shift in the spine puts pressure on the nervous system (spinal cord and spinal nerves), which could lead to muscle tension, pain, limited mobility and damage to organ systems.  It is essential that the spinal cord and nerves are free of interference. An optimal spine means optimal health.

If you are concerned about how your child’s posture looks, then consider bringing your child to a chiropractor for a postural and spinal check up.  Chiropractors are experts in posture and spinal correction.
