Back pain? Neck pain? Headaches? Thinking about seeing a chiropractor?

Dr. Walter Salubro_1Here are some FAQs answered by Dr. Walter Salubro, chiropractor in Maple, Ontario.

Question: “I have had low back pain for many years. Can chiropractic help?”

Dr. Walter’s answer:  Chiropractors have helped many people with low back pain. In most cases, if you have had back pain for many years, chiropractic care is certainly a health care option for you. There are many causes of low back pain. A spinal exam by the chiropractor can help determine if the cause of your back pain is of spinal origin and if it can treated or corrected with chiropractic care.

Question: “When I get neck pain, I also get dizziness. I’ve been told I have vertigo. What can a chiropractor do?”

Dr. Walter’s answer:  The joints of the upper neck (at the base of the skull) give a lot of information to the brain about your body’s position in space, especially while you are standing. A structural problem with the spine, especially in the upper neck can trigger symptoms of dizziness or loss of balance. A chiropractor will do a thorough spinal exam and assess the neck for any shifts or misalignments to determine if the dizziness comes from the neck region. If it does, the chiropractor will suggest a course of treatment that addresses correcting the underlying spinal problem contributing to the vertigo as well as the neck pain.

Low Back Pain, Leg Pain And Sciatica

Saturday, November 30th, 2013

How is leg pain and sciatica connected to low back pain?

Low back pain is debilitating. It’s so debilitating that people with low back pain can not function. They can’t work, they can’t do their sports or exercises and they can’t spend quality time with their family.

With low back at times comes leg pain and sciatica.  Although sciatica is a form a leg pain, not all leg pain is diagnosed as sciatica.  The spinal nerves of the low back (lumbar and sacral region) contribute to the nerves that travel into the thigh, leg and into the feet. So, when these low back spinal nerves are affected or injured or inflamed or “pinched”, they can refer pain into the thigh, leg or feet.

More specifically though, the sciatic nerve emerges from the gluteal region. When the sciatic nerve is specifically irritated, pinched, inflamed or affected, it can radiate extreme shooting pain down the leg and into the foot. When the sciatic nerve is involved with leg pain, the leg pain is appropriately called sciatica.

Often times, the structures (muscles, joints and ligaments) in the low back and sacrum region can refer pain into the leg. This type of leg pain is not called sciatica.

Chiropractic care has helped many people with low back pain, leg pain and sciatica. Often times, the causes of low back pain, leg pain or sciatica is a misalignment of the spine in the low back or a misalignment of the sacrum in the pelvic region. A spinal misalignment in the low back region will stress nerves, discs, joints, muscles and ligaments which can cause low back pain, leg pain or low back pain.

If you have low back pain or leg pain of any kind, a check-up with the chiropractor will be highly informative. It can tell you what’s causing your back pain and leg pain, how the low back pain and leg pain can be relieved and more importantly, how to correct the underlying spinal problem with chiropractic care so it doesn’t not come back again.

Keeping the low back strong and healthy is a requirement for a fully functional life, whether it be at home, at work or during play and recreational time.

Check with a chiropractor in your area so see if chiropractic care for your low back pain can work for you.

Vaughan Chiropractor Discusses Chiropractic Care For Low Back Pain

Maple, ON – Back pain is a common condition and health care problem that affects 4 out of 5 (80%) of people. Back pain can be debilitating, often times resulting in lost time from work. As well, back pain can affect other aspects of quality of life, such as time with family, sports, recreational and leisure activities.

If you are suffering of back pain, whether it’s acute or chronic, seek the advice and consultation of a chiropractor in your community for treatment, relief and correction of the back problem.

Here are 5 reasons to seek chiropractic care for back pain relief:

  1. Chiropractic care for back pain helps with immediate relief of symptoms and is safer than drugs.  Drugs come with a variety of dangerous side effects.
  2. More than pain relief, a chiropractor will look for what is causing the underlying back pain and back problem. Once the cause of the back problem is determined, the chiropractor can recommend a treatment plan that aims at correcting the spinal condition that is creating the back pain symptoms.
  3. The chiropractor provides home care advice that assists in the safe recovery of the back pain and the back problem.  For example, you may get advice on how to sit, stand and sleep in position that prevent further damage and aid in recovery. You may also get advice on proper lifting techniques that helps prevent back injury from these activities.
  4. The chiropractor is trained in providing the appropriate exercises that help with strengthening the back and core muscles as well give specific stretches to alleviate muscle tension naturally.
  5. Once the back problem or spinal condition is corrected, regular chiropractic care can help maintain an optimal spine. Keeping the spine healthy and optimized can help prevent spinal degeneration.

If you have been suffering with low back pain, whether it’s been a few days, months or years, look for a chiropractor in your city for back pain relief and correction.
