The result is better health, better weight management and an overall higher quality of life.”
If you are looking to make changes in your diet, improve your eating habits and start choosing healthier foods, go check out the Nutrition Workshop Module at Back To Health Chiropractic Centre, which starts January 9, 2013.
A 2004 Statistics Canada report shows that many Canadians “do not have a balanced diet”.
There is a huge problem today with the diet and eating habits of Canadians.
The Statistics Canada report, titled “Overview Of Canadians’ Eating Habits”1, by Didier Garriguet showed that:
A majority of Canadians don’t get enough fruits and vegitables in their diet.
More then a quarter of men and women in their thirties and forties get more then 35% of their calories from fats.
People of all ages get more then 20% of their calories from other low nutritional valued foods (such as butter, beverages like soft drinks and coffee, foods that are sugar like syrups, jams, honey and high-fat, high-salt foods like chips).
A quarter of Canadians, including adults and children, eat something that comes from a fast food outlet.
The question that is important here is … “How are your eating habits?”
In the fast-paced, mass-production world we live in today, it may seem difficult to eat a balanced nutritional diet. However, that’s not true. Eating a balanced diet is possible and we have been teaching this at our clinic for years. You too can start making healthier eating choices for yourself, your children and your family.
Here are some tips that will get you starting to eat a healthier, leaner and more nutritional meal.
Whether you’re ready for it or not, the holiday season is just around the corner. For some people, this can be a time of overwhelm and stress.
Here are some practical tips that will help you cope, manage or even prevent stressful situations and the effects of stress on your well-being during this holiday season:
1. Exercise: Go for a walk, a light run, do jumping jacks or push-ups. Other ideas are home-based exercise programs, going to a gym, rock climbing or playing a favourite sport. Whatever form of exercise you choose, it will certainly get you feeling better and it’s a great way to release stress.
2. Eat Good Wholesome Foods: More fruits and vegetables are a must in your diet. They have nutrients, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that help support your body. Smoothies, juicing and “green” shakes are easy ways of getting more fruits and vegitables in your diet.
3. Get Complete With Any Disagreements: Relationships are a huge source of stress for many people, whether it is family, spouses, friends or co-workers. Restoring a relationship with another person is many times just a conversation away. Forgiveness is the key, not the blame-game. Take time to have that overdue conversation.
4. Create Goals: This is a powerful way to take control of your life and create the life you want. Goals give you a direction in life. You will bust through stressful situations faster when you know you are on a journey to creating the life of your dreams and vision.
5. Chiropractic Care: One of the many benefits of chiropractic care is a better ability to handle stress. Stress activates the nervous system, gets you in a flight or fight response and increases stress hormones (cortisol and epinephrine). On an ongoing bases, this can be damaging to your body. Chiropractic helps restore balance and harmony to the nervous system. If you are under chiropractic care, keep up your check-ups and adjustments. If you are not under chiropractic care, this is a perfect time of year to get a chiropractic check-up.
Do a self-inventory. How is stress affecting you right now? Where are the sources of stress? How can you apply these tips to make your life and your holiday season stress-free?

Back To Health Chiropractic Centre in Maple, Vaughan Presents A Synopsis Of The Dr. Phil Show Interview With Chiropractor Dr. Fabrizio Mancini – Air Date, March 14-2012
Dr. Phil, a long time chiropractic patient of Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, gives us an inside look of Dr. Mancini’s book, “The Power Of Self-Healing. Dr. Mancini is the President of Parker University.
Here are some highlights and key points from the Dr. Phil interview and from Dr. Mancini’s book, “The Power Of Self-Healing”:
Did you hear? Fox News reported about a man who suffered a heart attack while dining at a popular Las Vegas restaurant and the restaurant is called Heart Attack Grill.
Irony, you call it? Coincidence? Or was it a series of choices that led to an impactful wake-up call for this man? Luckily the paramedics arrived in time to help this man and reports say he is alive.
More then likely this wasn’t due to a one-time meal at a high-calorie restaurant but due to a series of choices that culminated in a traumatic and life-threatening incident.
At our clinic, Back To Health Chiropractic Centre, we teach about choices at our wellness workshops and lectures. I tell our patients that the choices you make today in life will shape your future. And if you want to live a life of your dreams and vision, the choices you make today absolutely matter. So you owe it to yourself to make the right choices for your health and your well-being, not just for now but for the rest of your life.
Maple (Vaughan), Ontario - It is common for people to seek treatment from chiropractors for low back pain, neck pain, headaches or even injuries from work and car accidents. These are conditions that are mostly seen in adults. Since a child will not typically complain of low back pain, neck pain or headaches, the parents may never see a reason to get their child checked by a chiropractor for a well exam or a spinal / posture check-up. However, regardless of any pain or symptom, a child may have spinal misalignments or posture displacements that could be putting strain on their nervous system. Since the nervous system controls and co-ordinates every function of the body, it’s imperative that the nervous system remains as stress-free as possible for optimal health, optimal growth and optimal body function.
Consider this … spinal misalignments can occur at any time throughout the child’s growth, development and life.
Here are the 10 top reasons for your child to have a chiropractic check-up:
Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed one shoulder may be lower then the other? Or have you ever noticed your friend’s head is way too forward? Or have you ever look at someone else and noticed they have a “hump” in the upper back? Or has someone ever told you that you slouch when you’re standing?
These are just some of the many types of postural imbalances that are common in people, adults, teens and children alike.
Postural imbalances or postural displacements can cause strain and stress on spinal bones, nerves and muscles. This can lead aches, pain, fatigue and even a decrease in body function and health.

“Chiropractic Works! Adjusting To A Higher Quality Of Life” is a wonderful book written by Timothy J. Feuling. Mr. Feuling is the vice president of the World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA). This book is an enjoyable read as it gives you many real life stories of people who have had their life dramatically improved with chiropractic care.
What I really like about this book is that right from book’s introduction, Mr. Feuling says that this book is written with children wellness in mind. He explains how children, as well as men and women of all ages, have benefited from chiropractic care and there are plenty of stories throughout the book that illustrate this. Some stories are also written by chiropractors, but most of them are stories written by the patient.
Mr. Feuling also does a great job explaining in a very understandable way the difference between chiropractic care and allopathic medical care. There is a neat section called “Who’s Who Under Chiropractic Care” where the author lists over 200 celebrities, entertainers and athletes that have received or have been under chiropractic care.
An Interview With Chiropractor, ICPA’s Dr. Claudia Anrig.
This is a great video that answers many frequently asked questions that, as a mom or dad, you may have about chiropractic care for your child.
I personally met Dr. Claudia Anrig at a chiropractic pediatric seminar she taught in Toronto. She is one of the foremost experts in chiropractic care for children and also the co-author of the textbook Chiropractic Pediatrics.
